After setting a new personal-best time of 13.34 seconds in July at the Canadian Track-and-Field Championships on her home track, Larissa Brown ran faster yet at the Aug. 3-6 World Junior Para Athletics Championships in Switzerland.

Alongside 2012 Paralympic guide runner Andrew Heffernan of Ottawa, the Ottawa Lions athlete ran 13.32 to win a silver medal in the T12 women’s 100-metre event for athletes with visual impairments.

At the Aug. 4-13 IAAF World Championships in London, women’s 800 m runner Melissa Bishop placed 5th, while fellow Lion Tim Nedow was 16th in the men’s shotput.

A pair of Lions sprint hurdlers both landed on the podium at the July 21-30 Jeux de la Francophonie in Ivory Coast, with Sekou Kaba earning silver in the men’s event, and Ashlea Maddex taking bronze in the women’s competition.
