After being shutout back-to-back games, the Carleton University Ravens women’s soccer team finally found their offence Sunday afternoon in a sparkling 6-1 win against the RMC Paladins.
Rookie Raven Adrianna Ruggiero (Unionville, Ont.) started the scoring in the 35th minute, beating goalkeeper Olivia Clarke (Caledon East, Ont.) for the only goal of the first half.
She would double the lead in the 65th minute, only to have the Paladins’ Emmanuelle Piche (Bourcherville, Que.) pull her team within one a minute later.
The offensive parade began for Carleton in the 73rd minute, as they scored four quick goals. In a nine-minute span Tina Lacava (Markham, Ont.) scored twice, while Megan Sequierra (Calgary) and Andrea Way (Navan, Ont.) added the others.
The final score could have been 8-1, but two of the Ravens’ goals were disallowed.
Carleton keepers Anna Morsky (Saskatoon) and Rachel Bedek (St. Thomas, Ont.) both saw time on the field.
The Ravens are now 2-2 and will face the University of Ottawa in the Gee-Gees home opener on Sept. 14. Kick-off is 7 p.m.
