Male AOTW: John Beck – football

Fourth-year linebacker John Beck, Welland, Ont., led the defensive charge for the Gee-Gees in a 19-6 victory over Queen’s on Saturday at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. Beck finished the day with a total of 4 tackles (3 solo, 2 ast), including a sack that cost the Gaels 12 yards on the play.  He also had two forced fumbles and nearly had an interception.

“The defence won this game in my mind,” said head coach Jean-Philippe Asselin following the game.

Female AOTW: Allison MacCormack – women’s rugby

Third-year women’s rugby player Allison MacCormack, Orangeville, Ont., was brilliant in the Gee-Gee’s 56-5 rout over Bishop’s in their season opener on Friday night.

“She had some excellent hits, runs and a high level of intensity; earning her player of the match honours,” said head coach Suzanne Chaulk.
