James Doucette completed an unusual double at the May 11-13 Eastern Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Oshawa. Last year, Doucette was an Eastern Canadian champion in synchronized trampoline. This year, the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre athlete was champion again, but this time in the men’s artistic gymnastics competition. Competing in the Level 4, Age 13+ category, Doucette won the all-around gold medal. Outscoring the entire field by a wide gap, Doucette’s dominant pommel horse routine was the big key to his victory in the overall standings, along with 2nd and 3rd-place performances in the floor and high bars events. Alongside OGC clubmate Max Parker, Doucette also spurred Ontario to the top in the team competition.
