Ariel Young of the Ottawa Fury laced up for Canada’s women’s soccer team for a pair of international friendly matches against the United States. Canada played the U.S. to a 1-1 draw, and lost to the Americans 3-1 in a game that Young played the last 19 minutes. She was one of three 16-year-olds who substituted in for Canada in the match. Young joined 11 players from Canada’s 2016 Olympic bronze medal winning team. Being the youngest on a team isn’t new for Young who played for Team Ontario U18 team in the Canada Games at only age 15. She made her debut in the red and white for Canada’s U17 women’s team in China in the summer.
