Ravens rookie leads nation’s capital’s men’s soccer award winners

After one season of U Sports soccer, Gabriel Bitar’s already piled up the accolades. The Ottawa South United product-turned Carleton Raven led the nation with 16 goals and won awards including: the Lou Bilek Award as the nation’s best rookie, the OUA East rookie of the year award, and the OUA East MVP award. As well, Bitar was named a First-Team OUA East All-Star, and a First-Team All-Canadian. In his 2nd season as head coach of the Ravens, head coach Kwesi Loney was named the OUA East coach of the year and was nominated as the U Sports coach of the year. Ismail Sow, formerly of the Ottawa Fury, was named a U Sports All-Canadian (Second-Team) as a member of the Montreal Carabins. Carleton’s Diego Politis (Ottawa) , Dario Conte (Ottawa), Tristan St. Pierre (Ottawa), Stefan Karajovanovic (Gatineau) and Cristopher Malekos (Saint-Hyppolyte, Que.) were also named First-Team OUA All-Stars.
