Ottawa South United is very pleased to announce that Emily Amano, Kayza Massey and Isabella Hanisch players have been invited to join the newly founded Ontario Regional EXCEL Super Centre.

This represents a significant achievement for the club, having one player in each age group (2000, 2001 and 2002) all invited into this program, which is integral to the national team program for female players in our country.

In addition to this, three other local players invited (Olivia Cooke, Ariel Young and Mollie Eriksson) were all OSU players from U9-U14 and for Eriksson until U16. We are proud to have contributed towards each player’s development since a young age.

“To have the Regional EXCEL Super Centre in Ontario is terrific. It will provide a tangible opportunity for talented female players within our Force Academy program to advance into national team programming on a consistent basis. With the three girls all being offered this wonderful opportunity, it shows a consistency within the club to produce talented players who are ready to enter national team programs each year. We feel that we will continue to have more players entering this system year after year, and that Emily, Kayza and Isabella will serve as examples for our younger players to strive towards,” noted Club Technical Director, Paul Harris.

In addition, 13 of our players recently returned from the Whitecaps High Potential Prospects Camp in Vancouver. This provided a chance for the many talented female players we have to access a professional club, at the cutting edge of advancing the female game for Canada.

70 grads playing post-secondary soccer

It is with great pride that we celebrate the individual player successes of our club alumni. In 2017, we have seen a club record 70 graduates competing for their universities and colleges across North America.

This impressive number illustrates the ultimate goal of our Force Academy – to help each and every player reach their ultimate goals in the game. In addition to this, 7 current club coaches – including Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year Dominic Oliveri – are also working within local university and college programs, which further strengthens the opportunities for our players.

In 2015, OSU introduced the College Prep Program to ensure that we continue to have a pipeline of graduates going on to play in university and college each year. Look out for some impressive additions to this program over the coming months.

45 selected for Team Ontario screening

We are very pleased to receive the news that an impressive 45 players, from our U13-U16 OPDL teams have been identified for Team Ontario’s Provincial Screening events.

“To continue to be one of Ontario’s leading clubs in terms of players selected for this phase is very pleasing for our club, and team coaches. It helps to reaffirm that our commitment to individual player development is paying off,” noted Club Technical Director, Paul Harris.

OSU awarded club excellence gold

As Eastern Ontario’s first, OSU is pleased to announce that we have once again been awarded the Gold Standard for Club Excellence.

“We are pleased to once again be recognized by Ontario Soccer for our club philosophy on constant improvement. At the inception of OSU, in 2003 we believed these three key pillars were crucial to improving soccer in Ottawa – technical, managerial and governance standards. Tying all three together was very progressive for the landscape in our area, and we look forward to pushing these forward, as a leading club in Canada,” noted Club President, Bill Michalopulos.
