YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region Team of the Month: Cumberland United Cobras Under-13 Girls’ Soccer Team

The Cumberland Cobras 2004-born girls’ soccer team earned the first Ontario Cup title in their club’s history in September thanks to a 3-1 victory over Oshawa. The championship game was the first time the Cobras were scored on in their 5 matches in the provincial knockout competition. Cumberland previously trounced Belleville, Mississauga and Bolton 5-0 and then downed Woodbridge 2-0 to advance to the final. The Ontario Cup triumph was sandwiched between another pair of championships. Two days earlier, they capped their undefeated 13-0-3 season playing against older opponents in the East Region Soccer League’s U14 girls’ division. Two days later, the team won the East Region Cup U14 girls’ competition for the triple crown.
