Birdies & Beers Golf Tournament to support low-income kids’ access to sport

The Birdies & Beers Golf Tournament is returning this summer on July 22nd to Pineview Golf Course!

Birdies & Beers is more than just your average golf tournament. It is a day for friends, family and professionals to come together to hit some balls, play some games, and raise money for a great cause!

The Ottawa Sports Pages’ Connecting Athletes of All Means to Paths in Sport Project is thrilled to receive proceeds from the event to help provide free sports opportunities to children and youth from Ottawa Community Housing neighbourhoods (learn more about the CAMPS Project here).

Whether you make a couple birdies each round or that’s your career highlight, we’re happy to welcome golfers of all abilities. There will be a table full of raffle prizes to check out before you tee off, and multiple interactive hole games to play throughout your round.

The entry fee is $125/individual or $500 for a foursome. It’ll be a 12:30 p.m. start for the scramble (best ball) event. Dinner and beer is included with your registration!

The tournament is organized by Jennica Klassen, a veteran lead of several previous charity golf events. The University of Ottawa and Algonquin College grad was a past summer employee of the Ottawa Sports Pages / CAMPS Project and felt inspired to continue to give back and support our mission.

“I really love organizing events like this – it’s always so much fun for me and the people participating, and I feel it’s so important for every kid to have access to sports because it can make such a positive impact on their lives,” Klassen shared. “We’re really excited to have everyone join us.

“I mean, golf, beer, dinner AND helping kids get into sport – can it get much better than that? It’s gonna be an awesome day.”
