Family tips to help build more female sport leaders

“If you can see, you can be it”: Young girls seeing women in sport leadership roles can serve as a powerful tool to inspire the next generation. Here are a few ideas on how families could make it happen:

GRAB THE WHISTLE: At community sports events, the mums are often asked to run the bake sale and the raffle, while the dads officiate. Switch up the stereotypical roles.

CHILDCARE: Make arrangements or have dad watch the kids so mum can coach, run the meet, or serve as a board director.

EARLY START: Volunteer to help out from a young age to build knowledge and confidence in abilities throughout child’s sports involvement.

MUM’S A CHAMP: So let her know! Mothers who run a household can definitely manage or lead a team too.
