About: In a doubly-shortened debut season in the Première Ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ), Ottawa South United’s (OSU) men’s team finished in 2nd place with a 4-2-1 record. The PLSQ started late and ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It tied its first two matches of the season, which were against AS Blainville and CS St-Hubert. OSU’s four wins were against CS Longueuil, Celtix du Haut-Richelieu, CS Fabrose and CS St-Hubert. OSU’s only loss came against AS Blainville in what was both teams’ final game on Sept. 19.
Athlete of the Month: Ivy Bialowas
About: Ottawa Lions runner Ivy Bialowas was the winner of the U20 women’s race at October’s Capital XC Challenge. She covered the 5 kilometre course in a time of 20 minutes and 52 seconds. Had the COVID-19 pandemic not have forced the cancellation of the high school cross-country season, the Grade 12 Glebe Collegiate student said she felt her team was poised to make a run at OFSAA gold, as they did at the junior level two and three years ago.
