Capital Wave Water Polo’s Mackenzie Greco was part of Team Canada’s silver medal-winning squad at the Youth Pan American Water Polo Championships. Canada’s team lost to the undefeated U.S. team in the championship match by a score of 14-5. Canada beat Argentina to advance to the championships. The 17-year-old represented Canada for the first time at the Trinidad and Tobago-held tournament, playing out of position as an attacker (she’s typically a defender) for the national team. Greco told the Sportspage her biggest takeaway from the championships was lessons she learned from working with a diverse group of girls who came from clubs across the country. The Grade 12 student currently plays in the National Championship League but says she hopes to play NCAA Division 1 water polo next year.
