YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region Athlete of the Month: Samantha Stafford

Samantha Stafford became a back-to-back-to-back provincial champ when she won her third consecutive all-around title at the Apr. 5-7 Ontario Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Windsor. Ranked behind close to 2 dozen fellow qualifiers heading into provincials, the Kanata GymnoSphere athlete rose to the occasion at the biggest competition, posting steady results in each event – 9th on vault, 2nd on uneven bars, 8th on balance beam and 5th for floor – to top the field of 30 with the best total score in the Level 8, Age 11-12 division. Stafford has progressed quickly – this year’s title is 2 levels higher than her Level 6, Age 10 crown last season, and well above her Level 3, Age 9 victory in 2017.
