David Quirie, 16, was the first swimmer to complete the Ottawa Riverkeeper 4K, a charity swim dedicated to protecting the water quality of the Ottawa River. Quirie made it across the river in just over 55 minutes. A member of the Nepean – Kanata Barracudas, he finished 3rd in the Junior Nationals 1500 m in July.
