YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region Athlete of the Month: Charlotte McLaughlin

Ottawa’s Charlotte McLaughlin left the 2018 Adequan/FEI North American Youth Championships with two medals around her neck thanks to her technically perfect rides.

Ottawa’s Charlotte McLaughlin left the 2018 Adequan/FEI North American Youth Championships with two medals around her neck thanks to her technically perfect rides. She rode as a member of Team Canada in the jumping children team competition, which the team of four finished in 1st with a perfect score of 0. In her individual competition in the jumping children division two days later on Aug. 5, McLaughlin again road flawlessly, finishing with 0 points. Her teammate Olivia Stephenson, who she won a gold with in the team competition, only placed ahead of her because of her jump-off time, which was 37.31 seconds. It was just quicker than McLaughlin’s own of 38.91 seconds. McLaughlin rode her 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Bronan, in the competition.
