The City of Ottawa kicked off its Ottawa Fit 150 Challenge with a 2-for-1 open house day on at various recreation centres on June 3.
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, the City is encouraging residents to swim 150 metres at a local pool between June 3-Aug. 31 and shout “Happy Birthday Canada!” when they finish.
“It’s a great family fitness challenge,” City of Ottawa program specialist Sarah Hoy says by e-mail. “What is great about the swim is that everyone receives a certificate to take home, and have their name on the wall to say that they completed the 150th birthday challenge.”
There are a number of other 150 special events scheduled, such as yoga, zumba, reindeer rides and family boot camp.
