Meet a Triathlete! Profiles of Bytown Storm club members

Jamie Hall

Jamie Hall.

Age: 16

School: Grade 11 Nepean High School

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TRIATHLON: “There are two things that I really like. One is that you’re not just doing one thing all the time. You’re not just swimming laps and doing drills, or only going for a run, or just biking. It’s a real mix of things, and that makes it an awful lot of fun. And there are seven of us girls who are all in the same age group and we all train together every day. I’ve got some really good friends here.”

FAVOURITE ATHLETE I LOOK UP TO: “Clara Hughes obviously. She’s the big one. I look up at her as a role model not just in sport, but in life, and everything she’s pushed through. It’s really inspiring.”

Aron Mohammadi

Age: 20

School: 3rd year Carleton University mechanical engineering student

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TRIATHLON: “I really enjoy the community in triathlon. It’s a very friendly sport. Everyone is friendly. You go to races and everyone’s helpful, everyone’s cheering you on through the race. That community is probably what I enjoy the most.”

FAVOURITE MEMORY: Winning a come-from-behind silver medal in the men’s relay at the 2013 Canada Summer Games. “It was a really fun event. We stayed with other athletes; we roomed with fencers and golfers. You just get to meet so many people, and everyone there is competing; everyone is athletic. You can go watch so many events all around you and see so much Canadian sport everywhere.”
