Sponsored by Paris Saint-Germain Academy Canada, the Dome @ Louis-Riel hosted a unique 5 vs. 5 Embassy Tournament for players age 8-11 on June 4.
The event featured diplomatic representatives from France, Canada, Romania/Republic of Moldova, Croatia, Canadian Global Affairs, Algeria and Latin America, along with a pair of entries from Montreal’s Paris-Saint-Germain academy program.
Croatia won in the final vs. the Canadian Global Affairs, while Romania/Republic of Moldova won the Fair Play award, and older players from the Ottawa and Montreal PSG academy centres showed off their skills during the lunch break.
“The tournament was truly awesome,” signals Sophie Anderson, the director of the PSG Ottawa-Gatineau academy, which will host a summer developmental camp from Aug. 22-26. It was a well received tournament for the players, parents and coaches of the many nationality. All young players were encouraged to do their best on the field and make friends with people from different ethnic background throughout the day since they all share the love for the beautiful game.”
