Video: Gee-Gees women earn first Capital Hoops win in dying minutes

The supposed undercard again provided more drama at this year’s Capital Hoops Classic as the women’s 6 p.m. nailbiter outshone the 8 p.m. men’s contest on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Scotiabank Place.

Tied 55-55 with under two minutes to play, the 2012 Capital Hoops Classic between the Carleton Ravens and University of Ottawa Gee-Gees went down to the wire as the two rivals met up for the first time this season. Jenna Gilbert scored the deciding basket in Ottawa’s 59-55 win.

The men’s game was not as close, as the defending national-champion Ravens pushed through a slow start to beat the Gee-Gees 74-34 and maintain their undefeated record.
