Colts debut with CISAA jr. football crown

It didn’t take Ashbury Colts long to welcome themselves to the Canadian Independent Schools Athletic Association, as their junior football team won the league championship in its first season.

Led by quarterback Michael O’Connor, who played the game with a fractured thumb, the Colts downed St. Michael\’s College 26-7 on their home field Nov. 9 to complete an undefeated season.

It was the Colts’ first CISAA season after bouncing around several leagues, including Cornwall and Outaouais in recent years due to conflicts with the national capital junior season.

Ashbury outscored opponents by a combined 250-32 mark in seven games.
