Ottawa Titans players Rebekka Steemkamer and Jessica Gaudreault finished in ninth place as members of Team Canada at the world junior women’s water polo championships Sept. 11-17 in Trieste, Italy.

Despite two goals from Steemkamer, a 12-9 defeat to Italy in the first knockout round took the Canadians out of medal contention. Their only other loss in six games came against Spain in the preliminary round as Canada beat Brazil, Germany, China and Uzbekistan in its other matches to place ninth.

Gaudreault was the squad’s goaltender. Both players were part of the Titans’ national silver medal and provincial gold medal under-18 teams last season.
