The Hamilton Hurricanes hit on a couple of big fourth-quarter plays to bust open a 12-3 game and down the host Ottawa Sooners 27-9 yesterday afternoon in Ontario Football Conference play at Carleton University.

Quarterback Sean Mellor came in for the last few minutes and engineered a touchdown drive, but the game was well out of reach by that point as the Sooners could not put points on the board for the majority of the match despite some decent drives.

“It was frustrating because we didn’t do some things when we had opportunities,” said Sooners coach Andy McEvoy. “We just have to do a better job running the ball, and a better job catching the ball. It ain’t complicated.”

Ottawa’s record now stands at 1-3.
