With a postseason berth safely secured, Capital City FC had no chance of moving up or down in the Canadian Soccer League standings in its final game of the regular season last night at Terry Fox Athletic Facility, but clearly, a 2-0 halftime deficit provided motivation enough as the first-year club struck for three goals in the second half to win 3-2 over the Brantford Galaxy.

Mahir Hadziresic got the ball rolling with a 35-yard strike to the top corner and then City’s leading scorer Sullivan Silva came in as a substitute to score the tying goal and the game-winner to bring his season total to 12.

Capital City FC now carries an eight-game unbeaten streak into its first CSL playoffs after finishing the regular season in third place out of 14 teams with a 15-4-7 record.

“I’m really excited (for the playoffs),” Silva says. “I’m pretty sure we’re going to win this league.”
