Tournament wins vault Team Homan to top of curling rankings

If it wasn’t already clear Team Homan was headed for the big times in the curling world, the Ottawa Curling Club rink’s first Grand Slam title spelled it out loud and clear.

Walter Gretzky congratulated Rachel Homan, Emma Miskew, Alison Kreviazuk and Lisa Weagle after they won the Rogers Masters of Curling event in Brantford on Nov. 18, where they knocked off Tracy Horgan, Eve Muirhead and Chelsea Carey in the playoff round.

Combined with a semi-final appearance in Saskatoon at the Colonial Square Ladies Classic and a Royal Lepage OVCA Women’s Fall Classic win in Kemptville, Team Homan is now ranked first on the World Curling Tour as well as the Canadian Team Ranking System used to determine Olympic trials qualification positions.
